TABLET GIVEAWAY: I won this Samsung Galaxy Tab back in October and so far I’ve only used it a couple times, and that was to play Angry Birds. So in the name of minimalism, holiday spirit, and tumblr bonding, I’ve decided to give this away to one of my followers. All you have to do to enter is reblog this and make sure you’re following me. A winner will be chosen at random on Christmas.

“Women were spit upon, slapped in the face, tripped up, pelted with burning cigar stubs, and insulted by jeers and obscene language too vile to print or repeat.”

This photo is from the Woman Suffrage Procession, Washington, DC, 1913.
So pissed off that history classes teach people that men gave women the right to vote with the 19th Amendment (after it was passed not all women could even vote). Women fought tooth and nail to get the right to vote in the suffrage movement but then after that as well because many women couldn’t vote after it was passed because of racism and classism. No one gave the women the right to vote, they took it.

Portia: I tell you what happens with our lives. We have our anniversary of when we got together, then we have Christmas, her birthday, my birthday and then Valentine’s day and by the end of that whole thing, we are exhausted and broke.

In his five short weeks of life, Orbit hasn’t met many other owls. So he isn’t at all worried that his new best friend doesn’t hoot back.
The orphaned chick is perfectly content in the company of the stuffed bird perched next to him and is never far from his side.
Orbit, a common barn owl, was given the toy by Lyndsey Wood, his carer at Folly Farm, near Narberth in West Wales.
She said: ‘A friend suggested that I find something like a toy owl to stop Orbit feeling lonely.
‘I thought he might try to eat it, but he just cuddles up to it and goes to sleep.’
